Repair

Repairs

I offer a number of different services but specialise in restringing beaded jewellery, including traditional knotting. All repairs are done at my home and take a few days to complete.

I offer a small repair service too, including changing earrings from pierced into clip-ons,

magnetic claspsnecklace shortening, necklace lengthening and more!

I can repair, resting and remodel most items of beaded jewellery.

Please email me with photos of your jewellery to be repaired at info@wilsonsbeadboutique.co.uk. I will give you an estimate for the work that needs doing. You can post your jewellery to my home address, once your jewellery is repaired I will post it back to you via recorded delivery, this usually takes a few days.

Alternatively, you can drop your repairs in at Amblergem Jewellers on alley 2 in the Grainger Market. Please note although I do restringing for them they are a different business and their prices will be different to mine.

Prices for restringing 18" necklaces start from £12 for a straight forward restring and from £35 for a knotted necklace. Restringing bracelets starts from £5 and small repairs start from £2. I am unable to give quotes without seeing your jewellery.

If you'd like your jewellery posted back to you via royal mail recorded delivery postage starts from £3.

Important information about having your knotted necklace restrung.

If you have a necklace which is knotted that needs restringing it will most likely be shorter once it is restrung, please see the image below. This is because over time the cord it is on will stretch creating not only knots but also gaps inbetween the beads. When your necklace is repaired it will be strung properly with knots inbetween your beads without any gaps. But don't worry, if you would like your necklace to be the longer length I will be able to add similar beads in.

As you can see both strands have 33 beads, the top strand is in the process of being restrung with knots which is shorter than the bottom strand which is yet to be restrung, you can see the gaps make a big difference to the length of the strand. When a knotted necklace is repaired properly, there should only be knots, never gaps.

This is something you need to consider when having a necklace reknotted, but of course we can add beads into your necklace if you would like to keep the longer length.
